I am a native Calgarian. As a senior artist creating art has given me
great joy. I live alone and creating art kept me sane through the many
months of isolation due to Covid-19. I express my core self through
making and sharing my work. I am primarily a self-taught artist and
I’ve learned many skills and techniques from workshops. Generous
instructors have shared their processes with me. Learning and trying
new mediums and styles is invigorating. Encaustic, painting with hot
beeswax and tree resin on wood, is one of my favorite mediums. The wax
has a flow and depth of its own when fused with heat using a torch or
hot iron. The finished work is influenced by that process.
